Aerial Images Tips and Tricks - When using the aerial imagery in the BASE IMAGERY, Etc group under the LAYERS/LEGEND there are several things to keep in mind.
- Aerial photographs are comprised of many colored pixels and therefore do not compress as well as the other data. As a result the "package" sent from the server is much larger and takes longer to cross the Internet.
- The "Map Loading" animation disappears once the "package" leaves the server. However, it may take some time (depending of the speed of your connection) for the "package" to appear in your browser. During the transit your viewer will appear inactive.
Recommendations:
Before selecting an aerial image, zoom into the area of inquiry first.
Before zooming out, deselect the aerial image.
Clicking the "Refresh Map" button while the "package" is in transit simply starts the process over again and will take even longer for the image to appear in your viewer.
