The Western governors have endorsed a new set of principles to guide environmental management in our region. The effort is called Enlibra-A New Shared Doctrine for Environmental Management. The governors believe the principles, taken together, offer great promise for addressing the difficult environmental issues we face now and in the future in the West.
The Western Governors Association (WGA) held an Environmental Summit on the West in Phoenix, Arizona on December 4-5, 1998. The primary goals of the Summit were to gather feedback on the Enlibra principles and to develop ideas and suggestions concerning future implementation.
This was, in my mind, a really good meeting. The WGA said they would receive comments on the Enlibra policy until January 15th, 1999. I would encourage everyone to read this policy/doctrine---follow the WGA web site and submit their comments. |
